Engineering 280: Projects in Engineering

In my first year at James Madison, I was part of the residence learning community for engineering which included board game creation in the fall and professional development in the spring.

Build and Play

First board game prototype for third graders developed throughout fall semester 2015. This design allowed us to get helpful feedback from students of the James Madison University College of Education.

Learn and Finalize

After receiving feedback, this was the final board game that we presented to our peers, teachers, mentors, and even some third graders themselves. Included was a mini-game, question cards with a separate answer sheet, and 3D printed game pieces.

As part of the spring 2016 semester, I had the opportunity to tour Moseley Architects in Richmond, Virginia where I learned about LEED certified buildings and how the firm revived an old maintenance garage into their new headquarters.

Explore and Learn

Also a part of the spring semester, the residence learning community and I had the chance to tour Dynamic Aviation to learn how they incorporated their values of sustainability and safety into their company. As part of the tour, I was able to see the original Air Force One, the Lockheed Constellation named Columbine.
